We are surrounded by rough weather. Wind, rain, hail, lightning, thunder, flooding, TORNADOES? Yup. Tornado warning for Fairfield and Suisun City around 9:30 this morning. Fortunately, no severe weather in my immediate vicinity, but rough enough on the morning walk. We got caught in a hail storm. Schatzi came home soaked and trembling. That's enough to make a gal want to stay home snuggled up in bed and knitting. No such luck for me.
But that doesn't mean I haven't been knitting. In fact, I've made quite a bit of knitting progress:
This is the back of Charley for brother Timothy.
After a false start:
In which the back was five inches too wide, I think I'm cookin' with gas on this one. I went down a needle size and reduced the number of stitches by 10%. Now the back reasonably resembles the measurements of sample sweaters he showed me.
And Mr. Celia requested some "sport" socks for golfing.
Sport sock #1, out of Schachenmayr Crazy Cotton, just waiting for its short-row toe. I've developed quite a stash of cotton and cotton blend yarns to comply with his request.
We will not discuss unfinished holiday projects, but we will congratulate all the Olympic knitters on their fine achievements.
Suddenly, it's brilliantly sunny outside. I'll have to skeedaddle and take advantage of the break in the weather. After all, my morning walk was curtailed and I'd like to get in my 10,000 steps today.
Ciao!
